Friend Makin Monday: Halloween

Thanks to Amber over at {aeFilkins}, she is once again hosting Friend Makin Monday. This week's topic is:
What are you going to be for Halloween?

Recently I just had this post, showing off Brayden's new Halloween costume from the Disney store. (Which by the way, they have their costumes 40% off right now). In case you missed it, he is going to be, none other than.....

Buzz Lightyear

Apparently he just can't get enough of the Toy Story characters. Last year, he was Woody and this year he would also like for me to dress up as:

Jessie...but I'm not quite sure yet. =)but we'll see.
So what about you? Are you going to dress up for Halloween? What is everyone in your family going to dress up as? Create your own post, then head over to Amber's blog to link up.
Happy Monday!

Favorite Fall Recipe: Caramel Rice Krispie Ball

Photobucket

Over the summer, I shared one of my favorite summer recipes so I thought with the new season I should share one of my favorite Fall recipes. This can be perfect for large group if you have any parties coming up.

Caramel Covered Marshmallow Rice Krispie Ball

{not sure of the official name}

They are super easy to make, especially if you have a special lil helper!

Photobucket

Ingredients:
1 can sweetened condensed milk
1/2 cup butter
1 bag caramels
Rice Krispies
10 ounces bag Large Marshmallows
Toothpicks

Before you begin, have your special lil helper remove all the plastic from the caramels.
Photobucket
Directions:
1. Melt milk, butter and caramels in a double boiler. Stir often.
Photobucket
2. Stick a toothpick into a marshmallow and dip into caramel mixture.
3. Roll into rice krispies and then set on wax paper to dry.

TADA!.....the finished product:

This particular batch isn't necessarily the "prettiest" things in the world, but I would rather sacrifice the looks to keep my sweet and special lil helper around. =) Also you might notice from the picture, I decided to leave the toothpicks in. Hopefully this way it won't be quite as messy when eating (especially for Brayden), but you can remove them if you would like. When finished, I like to refrigerate the leftovers.

Hope you enjoy! and Happy Fall!

Few Reasons why I LOVE blogging..

Recently a few exciting things have happened for me in blogging world . So I thought I would dedicate a post to specifically mention just a few of the MANY reasons why I have come to LOVE blogging in just these short 4 months...who knows, maybe I can inspire some friends who haven't started their own yet to finally take the plunge. =)

Reason #1: You can always find GREAT giveaways. Thanks to Chrissy from Life as a CEO I just recently won one of her giveaways. I won a $25 restaraunt.com gift certificate...It totally made my day!! I can't wait to use it! =) She is also currently hosting another giveaway, this time she is giving away 3 seperate 1 month free trials to Netflix. You can check it out here.

Another cute giveaway that I just found is hosted by Teresa.... she has two really cute blogs: a family blog and an amazing Christmas blog. If you have some time, check them out too. =)

Reason #2: Finding a ton of INSPIRATION and ideas from all the blogs I follow. I constantly learn new ideas on everything from photography, crafts, decorating ideas, recipes, to motherhood.

Reason #3: I get to share a lil bit of our life with others, rather than just keeping Brayden's cuteness all to myself.
Reason #4: Fun lil Blog awards...Just like this one I recently received:
This time both Melissa at Getting All My Ducks in a Row and Ms. G at Teaching Today for Tomorrow were gracious enough to pass it on to me....how exciting is that?!? Thanks Melissa and Ms. G! Maybe I get excited to easily, but these things and comments just make my day!

The rules for the One Lovely Blog Award are: Accept the award; post it on your blog together with the name of the person who has granted the award, and his or her blog link. Pass the award on to 15 other blogs (sorry I shortened the list) that you've newly discovered. Remember to contact the bloggers to let them know they have been chosen for this award.

My newly followed blogs I would like to pass it on to are:

My Blessed Life

He & Me +3

Happy Nester

The Love Shack

Shanty 2 Chic

Three B's and Me!

Life as a CEO

Sneaker Teacher

{aeflikins}

Reason #5: Meeting new people/blogging friends. This is officially my 73rd post and quickly approaching my 100th. I decided it would be a fun GOAL to have 50 followers by my 100th post. Can you help me out? If your not currently a "follower" and you enjoy reading our adventures...I would LOVE for you to "officially" follow along with us by clicking the Follow Me button on the right hand side. Thanks so much!

To Infinity and Beyond...

You might remember this post, when I was trying to decide what Brayden should be for Halloween. After a lot of thought and suggestions, I decided to finally go with one of his repeated ideas. On Sunday I ordered it online and Thursday this came in...

Photobucket

(He's also showing off his new haircut from Wednesday night. He decided he wanted to go with his summer faux hawk again. He was so excited that he was dancing around in his chair as I was trying to cut it, so it's not quite perfect.)

He insisited on carrying it inside himself:

He was soo excited to open his box that you would have thought it was Christmas morning. Of course we IMMEDIATELY had to go inside so he could try it on....
Photobucket

Running to infinity and beyond....
Photobucket
He is SOO excited that both his wings AND hig goggles light up. Hopefully the batteries won't run out before Halloween. =)

He is not a fan of the purple thing that goes on his head. He is REALLY wanting a space helmet "like the real buzz" so maybe in the next few weeks I can figure something out. Right now I am clueless so if any one has any ideas feel free to share them. He is also wanting me to dress up as Jessie from Toy Story 2, but I'm not usually one to dress up. We'll see....this year just might have to be an exception. =)

I forgot to show you as Brayden was on Cloud 9 running around in his costume, he also found this in the sky:

It was so beautiful!! Photobucket
